Date: 06 April
Time: 12.00 pm –16.00 pm CET
Location: Festningskaien, Bergen
Organiser: Maritime Bergen
During the opening weekend of One Ocean Week, shipping companies headquartered in Bergen, equipment suppliers and other important partners for the maritime industry will showcase themselves centrally located at Festningskaien.
Here, you will meet, among others, the shipping companies Odfjell, Grieg Maritime Group, Seatrans and Utkilen. These shipping companies operate cargo ships worldwide – but the ships rarely call at Bergen. Among other things, it will be possible to virtually board them with VR glasses.
You will also see how ships are controlled and operated through the technology of the Bergen company Norwegian Electric System (NES) and you can learn more about one of the world's largest classification societies, Det Norske Veritas DNV and NIS, Norway's international ship register.
There will be activities and competitions – for both young and old. On Monday, we will welcome school classes and students: This industry needs many more employees in the years to come. Maybe this is where you will find your dream job?
Bergen is one of the world's largest shipping cities. Ships owned and operated from Bergen sail with all kinds of cargo all over the world – and wherever you are at sea, there is a high probability that there is a ship with Bergen ancestry on the horizon. Bergen also has solid suppliers. If you come aboard a modern ship, there is a high chance that a company from the West Coast has supplied the equipment that makes the ship efficient and competitive. Yes, in fact, companies in our region supply world-leading equipment to the maritime industry all over the world. At Maritime Bergen's pavilion you will get a unique and exciting insight into this industry!
