Join us for a captivating journey into the extraordinary world of marine biodiversity, brought to you by the researchers of the University Museum of Bergen.
Hidden from our sight, oceans comprise over 90% of Earth’s habitats. At the University Museum of Bergen, we explore marine ecosystems from the polar regions to the tropics, and down to the deep, dark depths of the ocean. Our work serves to describe and document the amazing diversity of life found in the oceans, discover new species, and deepen our understanding of how these creatures are related through evolution.
From tiny worms, crustaceans and snails to majestic sharks and fascinating jellyfish, marine organisms come in an impressive array of shapes, colors and lifestyles. In a series of short talks, our researchers will reveal the wonders of marine life and provide glimpses of the work we do to study this fantastic diversity. You'll discover how the study of species—from their external features to their genetic makeup —can shed light on the complex web of life that exists in our oceans.
