Welcome to the Marineholmen Innovation District – the second stop on the One Ocean Science Tour:
This district is one of the oldest in Norway, with a 30-year history. Marineholmen Innovation District specializes in the marine industries, bringing together a critical mass of researchers, students, startups, investors, businesses, residents, and visitors. Altogether, more than 150 organizations and 3,500 employees are based in this area.
Your host for the day is VIS – Vestlandets Innovasjonsselskap, located in the heart of Marineholmen. At this stop, you will see examples of key players in the innovation ecosystem and learn how they collaborate toward a common purpose. You will meet marine clusters, incubators, and startups, as well as hear about our new researcher entrepreneurship program, TILT, and some of our research-based innovation projects.
🌍 Why is this important?
There is a significant need for sustainable transformation and new jobs in aquaculture. The Marine Power Center at Marineholmen aims to kickstart the blue shift. Here, diverse stakeholders work together to convert the knowledge and research from the region into socially beneficial solutions, products, and services.
Highlights:
✅ NCE Seafood Innovation: The National Seafood Cluster emphasizing cost-effective and sustainable seafood production and projects with its members.
✅70 Blaa: Incubator In the region's only marine incubator, 70Blå is dedicated to supporting Norwegian startups that make a positive contribution to the health of the ocean and coastal communities. You’ll have the chance to meet some of the companies housed in the incubator.
✅TILT: TILT is VIS’ new academic entrepreneurship program designed to guide researchers in transforming groundbreaking research into successful startups or commercial ventures. With a flexible and tailored approach, TILT offers aspiring entrepreneur-researchers the resources, tools, and guidance to explore and develop their startup ideas.
At this event, you'll meet exciting companies, marine innovators, and hear about research based innovation projects. Lunch will be served, and we encourage you to ask questions and engage in discussions about both the challenges and solutions in the marine sector.
